Surreal Morning
It has been a strange morning for me. I feel like time is sort of swirling around itself. I probably need more sleep.
I was able to get ready for work at a pretty casual pace, and I still got here early. Maybe that's why the morning seems so long.
I saw two hummingbirds as I was driving out of the complex. That's fairly unusual, because they tend to stick to their own territory which they don't share well. They were about 20 feet apart, hovering in the middle of the driveway as I left the complex. They looked like little crucified saviors, with their furiously flapping wings outstretched and their tails pointing straight down. I slowed down to make sure I didn't hit them.
Can you imagine how awful it would be to kill a hummingbird with your car? *shudder*
When I got to work today, I was met with an even more bizarre spectacle. There's some sort of internal marketing ploy to imply that the company loves the employees. They are launching it today by having all the available execs stand in the lobby and greet every employee. It was very creepy and very Fight Club-like. "Welcome!"
They put helium-filled balloons on all of the desks, attached to these little branded ink pens that light up when you click them to write. The novelty of the pen wore off quickly, but the balloons are everywhere. White balloons, with white ribbons tied to them. They look like errant sperm that have forgotten how to swim.
It's going to be a weird fucking day.
