Silver Speakers
The William Shatner Roast was probably the best one I have seen on Comedy Central. If you read me enough, then you know I watch way too much Comedy Central, right? So, I've seen a few of those things. The big surprises came from George Takei--who was awesome, and from Betty White. I'm sorry, but when you see a sweet little 84 year-old lady say "cock ring" you are going to laugh. You don't know what else to do. Patton Oswalt was great, but I love his sense of humor.
Lisa Lampanelli delivered a few zingers. The best one was her line about Betty White being so old that the grand prize on her first game show appearance was fire. God bless her.
I'm watching it again, and I am dying to see it unedited. The crowd loves Betty White. Of course, by "unedited" I mean with the dirty words still in. Thankfully, they cut out large portions of unfunny speakers, like Andy Dick and Fred Willard.
How great is it that half the celebrities on the dais were aged around 60 and up? I think that's fantastic.
Amelie was good, by the way. It was well worth the cult following. It was all about doing what you can to make the world a better place, and remembering to make your own life better at the same time. It's about finding that one person in the world who fits you, and taking the risk to be with them.
Yeah, it's a movie. I don't think real life works that way, at all. But I'm not as brave as the spunky title character, either.
I have to go home and check on the Pudge tomorrow. I failed to do it today, largely because I didn't want to miss the Shatner thing. I've been waiting for this for a while, now. I left him a pile of split peas to munch on and I turned down the A/C so he would stay warm. Hopefully, I'll be able to get down there early in the morning and see if I have any deliveries in the front office.
I placed a (practical) lingerie order before I started house-sitting, and that should arrive soon; i also broke down and ordered Garden State and Cheating at Solitaire. I am dying for a chance to watch Garden State without interruption. Maybe a couple of times.
For some reason, the network here is so fucking slow. I can't finish my SQL Server course because the lab can't run. I don't know what is choking the bandwidth. I don't need to study SQL Server 2005 right now, anyway. I'm over it. It does suck that I can't watch any streaming video, though. I don't get it, to be honest. CB has the same Internet service provider as me, but my network is much faster. I wonder if her inside cabling is shitty.
I have leisure imposed upon me. See how I spend the time? Writing in here. Rambling.
I have so much to say, but it's rolling around in the back of my head. It's still a story without a moral, or a moral without a story. It's a naked feeling on the tip of my tongue that hasn't clothed itself in words yet.
When it comes to me, it will come with words and music, and I will sing it for you, here.
