To the Dark Side
Last night, I ate a steak. After nearly two years without red meat or pork, I gave in--in a big way. I consumed a 16-ounce portion of Prime Rib, medium rare. It was the most decadent and delicious thing to pass my lips in...oh, at least four or five days.
Yes, that was what you thought it was.
The steak was awesome, and the service was entertaining. CB and I had a great time with the bulky waiter boy. He was friggin' adorable. She ended up getting him to sit next to her in the booth so we could engage him in conversation. It was fun. He had a baby face and arms like petrified tree branches. So cute.
My stomach was not happy, a few hours later. I have a very slow digestive system, so it took a while for the pain to kick in. It wasn't unbearable, by any means. I got over it. I won't be eating any giant steaks again soon, though. That was a fatty cut of meat, and that's the last thing I need. Besides, I was planning to go back on the diet in February or so. No point in getting used to eating steaks when I'm going to give it all up in a few months.
Maybe I'll have just a couple more.
I still have not gone home. I almost dread it, because I know I'm going to have to go grocery shopping as soon as i get there. I was almost completely out of food when I came up here to house sit. Poor Pudge the lizard was out of food before then. He's been eating carrots and split peas for days, and I imagine he'd be thrilled to have some nice, fresh kale. Poor baby.
I got my school schedule today. They finally put it up in its entirety, and now I'm giddy. I love being able to see the whole schedule, and look at each milestone. According to the schedule, my last day of class in 10/29/2007. That means that next Halloween (not the coming one), I will go as a Master of Information Systems. Damn, that sounds good.
Hm. Getting hungry.
