Been good
I just faxed in my request for an early ballot for the midterm elections. I feel pretty good about that. I couldn't use the handy-dandy website because my change of address has not been processed.
It's all good, though. I will still get my early ballot and have the leisure time I need to review all of the propositions and reason them through. I'll be getting a head start on that, through the PDF I downloaded last night. There's a ton of text to those things.
I thank the internet for the early ballot. If I had not found that, my lazy ass might never have voted. I did that for the last general election, and it made my life so much easier. I didn't have to stand in line or rush to work. I didn't get the little sticker that said "I Voted!" but I didn't really miss it.
If only the results had been as satisfactory as the process. In the sense of fairness, I spent election night at an office dinner, with Rasputin sitting across from me. He was gorgeous beyond belief. I didn't even notice the election returns on the television to his right. I barely noticed anyone else at the table, and there were something like 30 of us. I just kept wanting to do that one-arm table sweep. Oh, boy. I do recall the chunky sales rep from Texas, with her boobs falling out of her top. She was into the guest of honor. Way.
People, I can't express how important it is to vote. I know it's only midterm, but 36 of the 50 governors are being elected this time. All those Senators and reps. It's a "speak-now-or-forever-hold (or surrender)-your-peace" moment. A vote abstained is cast for the victor, for it fails to support his opponent. Look around, now. Does that idea make you happy?
If you don't vote, you forfeit a hell of a lot more than your right to complain.
