Gone...all gone

I did it again. I failed to run a backup on my external drive, and I lost it all. My last backup was in April, before I got my new camera.

All of the beautiful photos are gone. I don't mind the loss of my downloads that much. But the photos...I cried. That's a lot of experiences that I will never get to see again. That's a lot of artistry that I can't duplicate.

It started scraping yesterday morning. XP was giving me delayed write errors. It was an MFT problem.

I called a data recovery service, but they said it would cost at least $1300 to recover my data.

I tried the GetDataBack software. I even paid for the license, after I ran the demo recovery and was able to view files. $120 later, when I saved the recovered files, there was nothing there. Just file names and folders and correct file types but nothing viewable.

I'm completely heart-broken. I don't know what to do.

It's all my damn fault.
